Exercise 33
An annulus is the region between two concentric circles of radii $b=10$ and $c=6$. What is the area of the annulus, in terms of $\pi$?
← Back to Problem 33
Solution
The area of the annulus is the area of the large disk minus the area of the small disk, $\pi b^2-\pi c^2=\pi(b^2-c^2)$, with $b=10$ and $c=6$.
$\pi(10^2-6^2)=\pi(100-36)=\boxed{64\pi}$.
